Vocational Training Center

Gospel Revival Ministries not only trains leaders in other countries, but trains people right here in the US to reach their fullest potential. We work with three local colleges in the area to equip college age students with practical computer proficiencies, leadership skills, and direction for life that will enable them to be successful leaders in their various fields of interest.

We provide one-on-one, hands-on training in basic computer use with the Microsoft suite and data management research analysis. We use personality and gift testing to clarify young people’s purpose in life, which in turn helps them to achieve their life goals. We also offer two levels of leadership training, “Building The Leader Within You” and “Developing The Leaders Around You”, both by John Maxwell. Part of our training includes how to interact with people of different cultures, tips on international travel, and information on humanitarian development overseas.

Young people will learn hands on software programs such as the Microsoft Suite. This includes:

  • Learning all aspects of Microsoft Outlook and how to maintain accurate distribution mailing lists.
  • Scanning hard copy pictures into soft copies while learning how to enhance them in Adobe Elements.
  • Sending all manner of attachments: Word docs, spreadsheets, pictures, PDF files, etc.
  • How to create and present PowerPoint presentations and to maintain data management, tracking, and mail list segmentation.

Students will also learn:

  • How to write short stories and even produce high quality manuals.
  • They will learn about how to teach others what they have learned by creating policy and procedure manuals.
  • Creating a cycle of mentoring through our leadership training sessions, is key.

When young people leave our program their résumés are greatly enhanced and can easily fit into secretarial and even management positions. We have taken numerous surveys from young people over the past 5 years concerning the need of hands-on training or mentoring in the above mentioned areas. The response has been very overwhelming! The apparent need for this type of help proves to us that we are filling a critical void within the hearts of youth. Young people need a safe and criticism-free environment. Here it is alright to ask any question without embarrassment.

We have done presentations in local colleges promoting hands on instruction at our Vocational Training Center; the response is always more than we have space for. We started with a 12’ X 15’ room with three computers which grew into five. We have just completed the first high tech training room with several computers, scanners, and a projection unit all on a separate network with DSL access. The first day this room was usable, it was full!

Over the last five years we have created a successful prototype that has achieved immediate and lasting success with young people. Herb Booth of the Dallas Morning News quoted Lindsey , a 19-year-old student in training from a local college, who said, “College is great, but this is hands on. We’re doing things to strategize how to best reach an area of the world. This will prepare you when you go there in that you’ll know the culture and the best way to reach people once you’re there.” Stephanie, another student who was taught in our votech room mentioned, “If you want to do something right away, this is a way to get involved with mission work immediately.” Megan, one of our current interns, stated that “Over the past few months of mentoring I have grown and been challenged more than my last two years of college. I loved the classes that I studied in the university, but if it wasn’t for the practical application of that knowledge at Gospel Revival Ministries I would not grow. I’m learning how to keep a database and also how to effectively follow up with donors and to really bless others. I know that the skills and abilities I am learning and practicing here are preparing me for my future.”

These are just a few of the many testimonies of the lives that have been changed by the beginnings of our Vocational Training Center. We know that many more young people will realize their potential as they are mentored at our training facilities.

Training Missionaries and Ministries

Not only do we mentor and train college youth, but ministries and missionaries can also receive hands on training to get their ministries up and going. We are currently working with over 12 such organizations.

We need your help to continue this training! If you would like to make a donation, click here.

If you would like more information on how you can be trained through our ministry in Texas, fill out the form to the right.

(Training at our facility is a service we provide, but it does not include housing and travel arrangements at this current time.)
